Of important scale and presented in their old flakey paint 'Country House' finish , impressive pair of shallow-bowl garden urns/vases. 'Egg and dart' cast rim edges with gadrooned bowls onto a decorative cast collar above a spreading fluted socle foot down to a square plinth base .
No damage or repairs.
Probably produced by Handyside Foundry, Brittania Iron Works ,Derby .

Purchased and removed from a local country property in Worcestershire , a well-cast pair of vases in old paint finish. The edges with 'egg-and-dart' borders , the ribbed and fluted bodies unto a cast detail socle teminating in a square plinth base .

In excellent original condition with no damage , breaks or repairs. (1 bowl loose on base).

(These vases closely match another pair of large C19th cast-iron vases available on our web-site ref. MLDI 159 or SA 363806)


Probably by either Coalbrookdale or Handyside founderies.

Good large scale 'copper' with fantastic aged patination and domed rivetted seam construction. Heavy quality thick copper sheet with flat edge lip and flattened bottom.

Originally conceived as a hot-water vessel for either domestic or industrial use, would make a stunning planter, log-bin or wine-cooler . Some nice verdegris spotting, casting texture and wear commensurate with age and use, but no holes ,splits or repairs. Ideal for interior or outdoors use, could be polished to a high-shine finish if required.

Two-division umbrella-stand modelled with a hound sat in profile beneath an oak tree with leaves and acorns.
The base of semi-circular form with removable dished drip-tray cast with the Latin motto "CAVE CANEM" ( ie. 'Beware of the Dog').

The twin-hooped holder naturalistically-cast as tree branches . The reverse with applied Victorian 'kite' registration mark which would denote its date of manufacture , material and origin , though illegible.

The top formed as a loop handle for ease of movement.

Raised on conforming design low ornately-cast naturalistic feet.

In excellent original condition with original blacked finish , having never been over-painted to obscure the detail.

Probably made by Coalbrookdale.
No breaks or damage.

Pair of C19th French pressed brass pricket candlesticks. Decorative tall pair of tri-form pricket candlesticks of C17th design . Each side of triangular base with different pressed decoration . The wide circular drip-pans above a stylised Doric-capped leaf-embossed tapering body . Standing upon claw feet to the corners.

Have a high-lighted polished two-tone finish which reflects the light well and gives an attractive atmospheric appeal.

No damage or holes , the pricket spikes of varied height , though bodies are equal.
Minor dents to top edge of 'drip-pans'.
As these are pressed brass they are light in weight , though have good stability.

Decorative copper and brass-mounted hot-water urn of high Regency design . Featuring lion-mask mounts and lion-mask ring handles , together with stylised dolphin surmounts. The body and top decorated with a band of cast decoration, the sides with scroll handles. Unusually complete with its original zinc heater and element . The spout with a classical urn mounted handle , the lift-out interior with conforming urn finials.
Raised on tapering reeded supports with lions-paw feet terminals.

Designed for use on a sideboard or side-table in the dining-room or parlour for making and taking tea.

In excellent original condition .

Magnificent pair of large-scale C19th French Louis XVI style ormolu bronze fireplace 'chenets' cast as rampant lions .
Magnificent pair of large-scale C19th French Louis XVI style ormolu bronze fireplace 'chenets' , cast as rampant lions , complete with detachable cast-iron and steel andirons and fire-basket.

Superb quality cast ormolu bronze rampant or 'guardant' regal lions , with excellent detail and finish . The snarling , open-mouthed beasts with raised front paws upon a shield , together with shell and armorial decoration . Finished as three-quarter dimension bodies with hand-finished and chiselled details. Designed on rococo scrolling bases and a shaped squared foot.

Supported upon cast-iron rear struts which slot into the cast andirons also with finial decoration. The slatted fire-basket with 'navette' shaped profile , fitting over the return ends of the andirons.

Great decorative presence , combining with an elegant and practical fire-place setting.

Well-patinated copper vessel with twin riveted side seams and riveted base. The top with smoothly rolled lip edge.

Possibly used as an industrial vessel , but size, scale and condition probably indicate it was for domestic use.

No holes or damage . Sits flat to foor having had the bottom slightly compressed over time to aid balance.

Would work well in an interior or exterior setting, whether as a log-bin or as a planter.

C19th cast-iron 'Country-house' boot-scraper of unusual form .

Good large-scale boot-scraper decorated on the ends with lions ,after the models sculpted by Antonio Canova in 1792 for the tomb of Pope Clement XIII , in St.Peter's Basilica, Rome .

Often portrayed as souvenirs from the 'Grand Tour' , the 2 prone lions adorn many grand houses and museums in different decorative forms .

Removed from a Country-house property in Wiltshire . Has 3 slatted bars upon which to scrape the soles , and an open section into which to place the boot heel. Raised on an architectural stepped-plinth rectangular base

A smart and practical boot-scraper of rare design.

Decorative wire mesh patterns used to provide a high guard to help protect children from getting too close to a fire-place during the early 19th century.

Early C19th Regency period 'japanned' tin-ware tray.

Cartouche-shaped tin-plate tray with 'japanned' high gloss lustre finish and a simple classical gilt border of 'Greek-key' design . The edges with pressed 'handles' also with gilt detail.

Almost certainly produced in central England in the Wolverhampton and Bilston region , which was an important centre for the manufacture of japanned ware from the early part of the 19th century .

In good original condition with some blemishes and minor areas of corrosion . The gilt decoration rubbed in some areas commensurate with age and wear.
