High quality Venetian mirror with central bevel-edged rectangular plate and elaborate over-stepped multi-plate shaped crest . The engraving featuring cornucopia and floral designs and with gilded verre eglomise detail. Each corner mounted with a flower-head motif plate .

Some of the applied plates to the lower part of the surmount with some cracks and some minor losses to the pressed glass floral screw-head covers.

Superb decorative mirror with the presence and appearance of an important and palatial C17th Venetian baroque looking-glass.

The reverse with solid original frame and boards .

Highly decorative tooled and embossed 3 panel leather screen of good height and width . Decorated with flower-heads , scrolls and fruit basket designs in aged gold and green with highlights. The reserve has been re-lined at some point and could be re-finished or decorated to suit a chosen colour scheme.

Some old repairs to panels and some dents commensurate with age and use . The reverse with some marks and punctures. Each folding panel with bound and studded edges and triple hinges .

Could be wall-mounted flat to provide a decorative and atmospheric period back-drop or used as a dressing screen or room divider.

Over-scaled vase bodied alabaster lamp of twin-handled tapering form . Raised on a square block base supported on a tiurned socle, the tapered body with fluted lower body , angular handles and turned top.

Modelled a a classical Grecian urn and made from a well-selected figured alabaster stone.

The brass lamp fitting and bulb-holder with a sympathetically aged patina .

No damage, breaks or repairs.

Can be re-wired to clients specification .

Well-cast ormolu reduction of the antique marble vase , known as 'The Borghese Vase'. The frieze depicting an ecstatic Bacchanalian procession accompanying Dionysus.

The ancient Pentelic marble vase is of monumental bell-shaped Krater form , sculpted in Athens in the second half of the 1st Century AD as a garden ornament for the Roman market. It is now in the Louvre Museum, Paris , France. It's popular name derives from its association with the Borghese family , from whom it was purchased by Napoleon in 1808 and displayed in the Louvre since 1811.

Raised upon a black marble stepped plinth and set into an ebonised wooden base with moulded edge .

The friezes and shaped scroll-over ends all decorated in carved relief with a flowering prunus design . The tops each fitted with a single-piece 'floating' fielded-edge panel.

No breaks., cracks , damage or repairs.
In excellent original condition, each with a rich patina though some minor variances in colour due to sunlight exposure.

The triple elephant head and carved trunk supports each fitted with carved bone tusks . The heads with carved caparisoned detail and features , together with detailed carved ears .

In excellent original colour . Superior quality and grade of teak .

Triform based angular hall-stand with ebonised faux bamboo carved detail. The uprights formed as 3 crossed pole C17th style halberd weapons. The heads of the poles with patinated metal axe-heads with incised decoration. Fitted with hat or coat hooks with button ends.

The triangular enclosed base with folding stick or umbrella partitions to each side.

Conceived in the medieval or baronial style . Would provide a great conversation piece or decorative statement for a hall-way or lobby.

In good original, as found 'country-house' condition, with some losses to gilding and decoration . Loss to one carved corner.

Excellent aged patina to the gilding .

Impressive pair of early C20th giltwood floor-standing candle-lamps or torcheres in the neo-classical C18th style.

Tall pair of torchere lamps drawing their inspiration from classical athenienne type ancient oil lamps, in the the manner of the late C18th designer , architect and neo-classicist, Robert Adam .

The tripod leaf-carved and reeded upright supports terminating in lion's paw feet , with carved and lobed central detail. The solid plinth bases of sloping stepped tri-form design with period-style 'pounced ground' panels to the concave sides, band of guilloche style carving and classically-inspired ram's head decoration to the corners.

The triple carved and tapering shaped uprights each supporting a faux green marble decorated bowl, in imitation of an oil vessel reservoir. The tops fitted with cast-brass candle knozzles which house removable Bristol-type green glass photophores or 'storm shades' .

Excellent pair of C18th design lights to add period style elegance to an entrance porch or a hall-way.

Good sympathetic aged patina to the gilding . Minor areas of wear showing the red gesso ground 'bleeding' through adding to the C18th period style atmosphere .

Well-balanced construction with stable weighted bases.

Fine quality free-standing mahogany sewing/ writing / centre table raised on finely turned and reeded legs fitted with original brass castors. The drawers to both sides fitted with original ornate cast brass knobs . The working drawers to one side composing of a simulated twin drawer front which opens to reveal fitted baize lined writing slope , glass ink bottles, pen tray and compartments. The single vacant drawer below ,above a sliding frame for sewing and embroidery with original pleated silk 'bag' . The twin drop leaves each supported on shaped folding 'ear' flap supports concealed in the side of the frame.

The edges of the top and leaves with reeded detail

The stiles and frame with inlaid box-wood string detail . The reverse 'dummy drawers' mirroring the working drawer side . All key escutcheons with fine ivory or bone surrounds.


In excellent original condition. The grade of mahogany being exceptional and tightly grained . The high quality throughout combined with the design features , lead to a strong attribution to the esteemed cabinet-making firm of Gillows of Lancaster and London .

Central recessed kneehole cupboard fitted with original 'butterfly' type hinges and retaining original lock with key . The interior fitted with a shelf .

The surrounding drawers all with original solid brass back plates (and one bale drop handle replaced) and shaped escutcheon plates, one short drawer missing a lock.

The top long drawer fitted with original oak divisions to form compartments.

Shaped frieze shallow slide drawer to the centre . All drawers oak-lined with tight quality dove-tail details.

The back with original oak boards .

The top with simple moulded edge detail . Some marks and stains to the top commensurate with age and use, and
the sides each having a minor vertical single shrinkage gap . Some strengthening blocks replaced to rear of bracket feet.

Smart piece of quality mid-C18th period furniture of small proportions in fine original condition.

Rich colour and patina, has been waxed and cleaned in our workshops.

Exceptional quality pair of elegant figured rosewood D-shaped card or gaming tables of superb original colour and condition. The fold-over tops with crimson baize felt lined interiors , swivelling to form a stable playing surface and revealing figured and polished cedar-wood compartments beneath. Fitted with original lacquered brass hinges .

The break-front sectioned friezes with shaped scrolled ends , the edges of the tops and quatrefoil concave sided bases all decorated with carved 'split-reel' mouldings. Raised upon tapering and stepped square-section columns . The bases with ribbed or gadrooned lobed feet with concealed castors beneath with turned solid rosewood wheels.

Fully- veneered in freestanding form with a high grade of finely figured rosewood, which has achieved a rich patina. Retaining their original surface and 'skin' with only minor marks and crackle deterioration to the polish .

The quality of both the construction and selection of timber , together with the use of the mouldings and their design, favourably compare these tables to recognised and marked examples by the esteemed cabinet-making firm of Gillows of Lancaster and London ,and lead us to the probability of an attribution to them .

Fine and rare pair of decorative and practical tables with which to add symmetry and style to a room .

Smart mahogany centre or lamp table of free-standing form in the Empire style. Raised on empirical columnar supports terminating in rounded feet . The base joined by a cross stretcher with turned bowl ring centre.

All friezes with panelled sides, fitted with a single frieze drawer retaining its original cast gilt-brass ring handle. In excellent original 'country-house' condition, having achieved a pleasing consistent faded ,dry patina.

Superb understated and restrained classical Empire design ,and almost certainly English though of a usually European continental form . Wonderful selected grade of figured mahogany .

The faded figured top with minor blemishes and stains commensurate with use , but crucially with original surface and skin .
