Well cast pair of desk-top bust studies of the Ancient Greek subjects , raised on octagonal socle bases. Individually scripted on the front of bases, "Platone " and "Ariadne".

Plato is one the world's best known ,most widely-read and studied philosophers. A student of Socrates and teacher of Aristotle , he wrote in the middle of the 4th Cenury B.C.E in Ancient Greece.
Ariadne in Greek Mythology , was the immortal wife of the wine-God, Dionysus.

Good consistent patination . Ariadne bust with slight rear tilt on base .

Pair of late C19th Chippendale-revival mahogany candle-stands. Faithful copies of important C18th candle-stands , with tripod bases and 'Chinese-Chippendale' design open-fret gallery octagonal tops. Elegant turned columns with carved vase knop and beaded collar details , onto carved claw feet with a carved rococo cartouche detail to the knees. A good quality grade of timber which has obtained a nice faded Georgian period style patina. Some ring marks/stains to tops, but no breaks or repairs.(candle-sticks not included) H 40" x W (Tops) 12" . England c.1890

Pair of late C19th Dutch walnut armchairs. Faithful copies of early C18th design walnut armchairs with ornate burr-walnut veneered back- splats . Shaped cabriole front legs with pad feet,'shepherds crook' arms, shaped drop-in seats with shaped cartouche to front rail. Overall bold, broad proportions ,elbow pad upholstery to arms. Excellent, strong condition with no breaks or repairs, good rich honey-coloured walnut frames. Old clean upholstery , but could benefit from re-covering.

Louis XVI- style candelabras modelled as partially-draped cherubs or 'amorini' holding foliate branch candle-branches perched upon naturalistic ormolu supports. Octagonal facetted white marble bases with cylindrical centres and ormolu decoration, raised on compressed ribbed ormolu feet. Well-cast chased ormolu candle-holders. Pair of late C19th bronze 'Grand Tour' souvenir bronze lions after Antonio Canova. Well-cast pair of bronze reductions originally sculpted from marble in 1792 by Antonio Canova (1757-1822) for the tomb of Pope Clement XIII in St.Peters Basilica, Rome. The sleeping lion is symbolic of the Pope's moderation , whilst the vigilant lion represents his energetic work. Good 'chocolate' brown patination with some rubbed highlights to the manes. Copies of various sizes and materials adorn some of the world's greatest houses and institutions, including a pair at Chatsworth the seat of the Dukes of Devonshire. L 9" x D 4". Italy c. 1880

Pair of late C19th Italian 'Grand Tour' souvenir bronzes after the antique, "Mercury" and "Fortuna".
Pair of late C19th Italian 'Grand Tour' souvenir bronzes after the antique ,"Mercury and "Fortuna". Well-cast bronze copies of the models by Renaissance sculptor Giambologna (1529-1608), now housed in the Bargello Museum , Florence ,Italy. Mercury, the Roman messenger to the Gods , is depicted with his winged helmet, winged feet and holding his herald's staff or 'caduceus'. Fortuna , Goddess of luck and good fortune, is depicted wrapped in flowing gowns, holding a cornucopia. Both are raised balanced upon the winds of the Boreas, mounted upon bronze and black marble cylindrical plinths. The cast detail around the plinths showing cherubs or 'amorini' , depicting the Arts. Good original condition , dark patination with some minor wear to colouring of legs from handling, commensurate with age. No damage or losses.

The ovoid bodies decorated with butterflies to the shoulder ,with a band of 'Mons' style roundels ,above shaped reserve panels with flower-heads and gold-flecked ground. Perfect condition, with no restoration.

Pair of lae C19th/early C20th French marble vases with gilded mounts. Smart pair of striated marble urns with black ,white, peach and yellow tones. The bodies fitted with twin cast-ormolu loop handles with foliate detail , fixed dome 'cover' tops with turned finials . The vase body supported upon a spreading ormolu foot onto a square base with beaded trim and fitted with a garland motif to the front of plinth base. Excellent condition with no breaks or repairs, aged patination and minor wear to gilding commensurate with age.

Pair of late C19th/early C20th Middle Eastern , probably Egyptian or "Cairo-ware", over-scaled embossed brass bulbous lamp-bases.

Dramatic pair of heavily-worked bulbous exaggerated bottle-form lamp-bases , which have acquired a highly-decorative light verdigris patina , with gilded brass highlights showing through. The whole bodies with elaborate embossed floral or paisley-style decoration, raised upon shaped circular foot-rims .

In good condition, with minor historic dents . Fitted with turned wooden teak caps to the tops .

Great decorative statements to bring an exotic and theatrical addition to an interior scheme.

Can be rewired to client's specification.

Pair of late C19th/early C20th Royal Vienna style ovoid porcelain vases. Wonderfully decorated pair of cobalt blue-ground vases with four Classically-inspired hand-painted panels and gilded scroll surrounds. Gilt-metal mounts with cast pineapple finials, standing on shaped gilt platform bases. Perfect condition, no damage or restoration. All panels signed individually "Palini". No evidence of factory marks.

Pair of late C19th/early C20th silver-plated candelabras of classical design.
Pair of late C19th /early C20th silver-plated candelabras of classical design . Smart pair of E.P.N.S (Electro-Plated Nickel Silver) C18th George III style triple knozzle ,twin-branch candelabras by Collis & Co. , London.

Well-cast classical fluted columns and stepped bases with leaf-cast Corinthian caps, all fitted with removable sconces. The detachable foliate cast 3-burner twin-branch arms raised on a knopped spiral-twist stem, can be removed , allowing the columns to be used as single-burner candlesticks. Beaded-edge decoration to the shaped 'drip-pans' and also to the stepped bases. Both candelabras bear a small engraved armorial device to the stepped bases, of a rampant lion above a coronet. The enclosed and weighted bases both stamped "Collis & Co. 130, Regent St., London " and marked EPNS together with makers mark*.

In good original condition , showing some wear and tarnish to plate commensurate with age and use .

Authentic period style decoration to add candle-light and elegance to a dining table or sideboard .

*The Birmingham-based firm of manufacturers George Richmond Collis and Company , opened a branch at 130 Regent St. London in 1854. The well-respected firm produced a wide range of goods described in an 1839 advertisement as"Articles in the highest classes of the arts, in Gold , Silver , Plated bronze and Ormolu.." and in 1849 "..Platers by the new process of Electro Plate on fine German silver etc..."
In addition their quality goods were shown at 'The Great Exhibition' of 1851 .

Pair of mid C19th Chinese hardwood 2-tier stands/ lamp tables . Useful and practical pair of rectangular top 'huali' tables with panelled tiers standing on square-section legs with scroll-carved feet. The friezes all carved with scroll "endless -knot" type decoration. Simple classic design would complement a period room-setting or add a stylish exotic, oriental flourish to an interior. Good strong condition , though some colour variances due to sun-light exposure and marks to surfaces commensurate with age and use.
