Standing on ebonised block plinth bases ,rising to multi-stepped bases supporting fluted classical architectural column shafts with highly-detailed and well-carved acanthus leaf wrapped and cherub-mask Corinthian caps. The caps topped by an ebonised platform with re-furbished traditional-style brass fitting and bulb-holders.

Wonderful original gilding and finish .

Elegant and imposing pair of classical-design lamps of good scale and presence .

Have been professionally re-wired using cotton-covered '3 twist' period-style flex, have also been fitted with on-line switches.
Baize covered undersides .
Excellent original condition with good stability .

Mounted with twin scroll handle mounts with classical Ram's or Goat's-head mask motifs . The figured rose marble bodies with cast-ormolu draped swags with flower-head detail . The domed fixed 'lid' covers fitted with bronzed tubular stems with double lamp-holders above and terminating with cast-ormolu ring shade supports and 'flambeau' finials .

The ovoid bodies supported on a fleched or feather design mounts unto a turned socle with ribbon-design ormolu ring mount , onto a square plinth block base fitted with moulded cast-bronze edging.

Smart pair of incricately-cast bronze lamp-bases imitating ancient Chinese ritual wine or food vessels /vases or 'Fanglei' , from the Archaic Chinese Bronze Age c. 1650 BC.

Such ancient bronze vessels were used for the purposes of ancestor veneration and worship in Chinese culture.

The cast decoration of traditional Chinese archaic style with stylised eyes and mask imagery.

Mounted onto bleached hardwood stands and feet of typical Chinese form , with corresponding wooden 'lids'. All-round cast decoration , of free-standing form .

Well-executed aged verdigris /ancient patination and finish .

The gilt having a gently aged patina and colour . No breaks or losses , minor wear and chips to gilded surface, adding to the overall appearance of an important and impressive period candle-stand.

Late C19th gilded ormolu-bronze Empire-style table lamp. Decorated with excellent cast detail, useful larger-scale lamp of campana vase form. Alternating cast panels to the integral stepped plinth base featuring scrolls, laurel wreaths ,ribbons and flower-filled vases together with leaf-cast detail to the foot section. The vase with twin leaf-wrapped handles and female goddess mask decoration, the body cast with amorini and classical scroll detail decoration . The fluted stem onto a leaf-wreath wrapped circular ring.
Quality Empire-style lamp in excellent condition. Has good presence and also of stable, well-balanced design with a weighted base.

C19th bronze 'Grand Tour' souvenir reduction of the "Medici Vase" lamp-base. Well-cast bronze copy of the famous marble 'krater' vase sculpted in Athens in the second half of the 1st century AD as a garden ornament for the Roman market. The vase re-appeared on the 1598 inventory of the Villa Medici , hence its title, since 1780 has been displayed in the Uffizi Gallery , Florence ,Italy. The vase features images of Diana and Iphigenia together with heroic warriors such as Agamemnon, Achilles and Odysseus , all in a bas-relief frieze below a vine-leaf band and 'egg and dart' rim. Twin fluted handles with satyrs heads to the sides, an acanthus-carved base with gadrooned support onto a laurel wreath band and square foot.
Patinated dark bronze with highlights.

Wired and ready to use.
A good piece of classical and practical decoration.

Impressive pair of late C19th French bronze vase-bodied lamps of classical design .
Impressive pair of late C19th French bronze vase-bodied lamps of classical design. Tapering ovoid vase bodies with all-round relief cast decoration of dancing classical maidens or nymphs and a running 'Greek-key' type decoration ,taking it's inspiration from antiquity. The fixed cover tops each with twin entwined serpent handles and fluted detailing . Raised upon fluted square socle bases with twin steps and concave corners, and with fluted and wreath-cast decoration .
Adjustable height bulb-stems with acorn finial shade holders.

Excellent colour ,patina and quality , possibly by the Ferdinand Barbedienne Foundry ,Paris, but unmarked or signed.

Executed in the style and manner of the C18th French sculptor Claude-Michel Clodion (1738-1814)
Minor rubbing to handles.
Good quality period-style fittings , can be re-wired to clients specification.

Early C19th George IV period bronze and gilt-bronze twin-branch colza lamp.
Early C19th George IV period bronze and gilt-bronze twin-branch colza lamp.

Classically-inspired design bronze lamp with urn-shaped central reservoir and twin-light arms with their apparently original etched glass globe shades. Well-cast detail throughout with exceptional gilt bronze claw feet. The stem with foliate scroll detail and an applied mask motif .

Colza being rapeseed oil which became a popular fuel choice for lighting during this period, the lamp system having been pioneered and patented in France by Aime Argand in 1780.

Probably made by Thomas Messenger & Sons, Birmingham, though unmarked.

Consistent dark patination with contrasting gilded elements.

Excellent condition, having been adapted for electrical use , and has been professionally re-wired and tested in our workshops. Fitted with traditional style cotton-covered 3-core twisted flex.

Large pair of early C20th Chinese armorial style porcelain lamps , probably by Samson of Paris.

Smart decorative pair of ovoid-bodied porcelain lamps of vase form ,decorated in C18th Chinese export 'famille rose' palette with armorial decoration . The fronts decorated with large heraldic device or 'coat-of-arms' to centre of body , decorated and gilded with floral sprig designs throughout . The reverse with a smaller armorial or heraldic cartouche , which depicts a leaping deer above a baronets bar .

Almost certainly made by the firm of Edme Samson et Cie of Paris, France , who specialised in producing accurate copies of this type of porcelain in imitation of both important C18th Chinese and European porcelain .

Raised on square bases with fluted socles and mounted in gilded and lacquered brass plinths . The fixed domed 'lids' with original brass lamp fittings . The sides with elaborate leaf-wrapped twin scrolled handles.

In first-class perfect condition .
