C19th Parian-ware bust study of Beethoven . Strong portrait image of the brilliant German pianist and composer Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1828).Made of Parian or statuary ware , the waxy porcelain resembling white Parian marble, developed in the 1840's by Copeland and Minton .Raised on integral socle base with octagonal foot. Inscribed "BEETHOVEN" to front of socle. Minor chips to base. Impressed numbers to underside , probably produced by Minton.

Mid C19th English porcelain jardinière or 'cache-pot'.
Mid C19th English porcelain jardinière or 'cache-pot'. Beautifully hand-painted pot with wild poppy and wheat-sheaf design .Both sides painted with a variant of the same decoration, on a powder blue ground . Gilded rim and foot-rim , applied with twin 'rope-twist' double handles. Minor rubbing to gilt and blue-ground. Some minor staining to interior. Has a Victorian registration 'kite' mark to base , which signifies it was manufactured on 30th September 1861. No factory mark , but high quality piece probably by Minton or Coalport.

Large pair C19th Minton Parian-ware classical groups.
Large pair C19th Minton Parian-ware classical groups. "Ariadne on the Panther" (after the original by Johann Heinrich von Dannecker completed in 1824 ), and "Una and the Lion" modelled by John Bell for Mintons. Impressive scale and nice condition (both have very minor damage to finger-tips and toes), with impressed factory date codes and pattern numbers beneath. "Una" has a 'diamond' lozenge registration mark to top of base and 'John Bell' cartouche. Both goddesses depicted naked whilst clutching drapes, astride the backs of the felines standing upon naturalistic bases.
W 12" x H 15" x D 5" .
(Parian-ware being unglazed porcelain developed in the first quarter of C19th to imitate marble and taking its name from the pure white marble of the Greek island of Paros.) England c. 1850

Pair of late C19th/early C20th Royal Vienna style ovoid porcelain vases. Wonderfully decorated pair of cobalt blue-ground vases with four Classically-inspired hand-painted panels and gilded scroll surrounds. Gilt-metal mounts with cast pineapple finials, standing on shaped gilt platform bases. Perfect condition, no damage or restoration. All panels signed individually "Palini". No evidence of factory marks.

Late C19th 'Vienna' porcelain vase. Wonderfully decorated vase depicting classical scenes, featuring Cupid and Apollo. Marked on base with under-glaze blue Vienna "bee-hive" / shield mark and inscribed with hand-scripted descriptions. Hand-painted and signed on body by H.Strohmeier. Raised split-pearl gilt and turquoise jewel decoration. Great size and colours. Perfect condition , no restoration. Minor rubbing to gilt around top. H 17". Dia. 9". Vienna ,Austria c. 1890

Large late C19th/early C20th Italian Capodimonte porcelain owl lamp or night-light ,with glass eyes. Well-modelled bird in quizzical pose shown perched on tree stump. Needs re-wiring , slight chip to one ear. Good large example with underglaze blue factory mark to base (crowned N ).

Pair of mid C19th English porcelain vases in ancient Greco-Romano classical style. Black-ground ovoid bodies each with twin gilded loop handles, decorated all-round with brightly-coloured classical figures and charioteers. Raised on round spreading foot with gilded rim.
In perfect ,unrestored condition. No factory marks , but probably produced by "Samuel Alcock & Co.", Cobridge ,Staffordshire, reknowned manufacturers of this type of 'Attic' or 'Etruscan' ware. Highly decorative classically-inspired vases of good large scale.
