Impressive late C19th cast-iron, brass and steel fire-basket
Impressive late C19th cast-iron, brass and steel fire-basket. Almost certainly Irish with well-cast detailed back featuring garlands, vines and sun mask , with open-twist finial supports on brass 'claw and ball' feet. Serpentine front with pierced Vitruvian scroll frieze .Old minor repair to back (shown).Loose fire-brick to back. A stylish and functional fire-place accessory. A very similar fire-basket can be found at Myrtle Grove, Yougal ,Co. Cork,Eire. ,once the home of Sir Walter Raleigh. See "Country Houses of Ireland" by The Knight of Glin and James Peill.

Good quality extendable bronze-mounted fender ,with patinated bronze seated mastiff dogs on plinth ends with cast foliate ormolu decoration and gilded brass base.Sliding-action extension with steel thumb-screw adjustment to rear.

x 2 Early C19th Regency period steel fire-place fenders of identical pattern. Of slightly varying form , but of almost identical design , a smart "pair" of ensuite polished and pierced steel fire-place fenders. Interlocking ring design with facetted and plain 'button' decoration. One is slightly rounded to the ends , the other has a 'squarer' return . Stylish pierced and cast decoration with moulded foot and top-rail , both in excellent condition with minor losses to button decorations. W (interior rear)48" x D.12" & 10" x H 6" & 6.5".
