Late C19th Italian 'Grand Tour' souvenir miniature bronze bust study of Augustus Caesar. Inscribed on socle "Augusto", nicely-detailed cast study depicting the young Augustus. The first Roman Emperor ,he was born as Gaius Octavius ,who founded and ruled the Empire from 63 BC-14 AD. During his leadership ,Augustus dramatically increased the size of the Empire and initiated a period of relative peace known as the "Pax Romana". Dark brown patination to the bust sculpture , whilst the socle base has a greenish verdegris tinge reminiscent of marble. Good desk-top size example. H 7.5". Italy c.1880

C19th bronze statuette of the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte. On white marble plinth base with neo-classical gilt-metal wreath motif , the Emperor is portrayed in classic imperious pose. Good detail showing medal honours and military uniform. Dark patina with some minor rubbed highlights. H 9". c.1870
