Pair of mid C19th Japanese Imari pattern porcelain vases / lamps and covers mounted as oil lamps.
The dome-lidded vases colourfully decorated in the Japanese Imari pattern and palette, probably by Edme Samson et Cie, Paris, France , in the early C18th style . Each raised on gilded cast-brass bases and mounted with gilded brass oil lamp fittings.
Rich palette of colbalt and ink blues with iron red and gilded highlights.
Highly decorative pair of lamps which could be sympathetically converted to electricity and wired at cost to client’s specifications.
In excellent original condition with no breaks, damage or repairs. One lamp having a slightly paler hue of blue to the body.
*The French company of Edme Samson et Cie , Paris ,specialised in the production of fine quality copies of rare European and Oriental porcelain throughout the nineteenth century. .
