Description

Large early C19th Regency period carved gilt-wood frame convex plate mirror.
Impressive large-scale circular gilt-wood frame of bold design with a deep cavetto surround . The outer edge with carved ovolo or ‘egg-and-dart’ design, the main profile with six double carved ‘stiff-leaf’ cusps , the inner ring with carved acorn and oak leaf detail . The clear , silvered convex mirror-plate with a reeded and ebonised slip surround .
In excellent condition with original bright gilded surface .Some minor evidence to the top edge and back-board of a possible historically removed pediment or decorative element.
