Large late C19th French cast plaster study of the foot and ankle of �The Farnese Hercules�.
Probably life-size fragment cast from the statue of the ancient mythological hero , Hercules. The foot showing the detail of the marble original with veining and raised arch. This study being being the rear placed right foot from contrapposto pose .
Stamped to the rear by the manufacturer �Atelier Soulage & Fils , Paris 1884�. Probably conceived as a study or drawing/teaching aid
for art students.
Superb classical decorative object in excellent original condition, with only minor losses to paint surface.
Decorated in imitation of the original white marble statue.
