Description

Early C19th Regency period mahogany 4-door ‘dwarf’ bookcase cabinet of breakfront outline.
Fine quality mahogany breakfront bookcase with 4 glazed doors , the interior fitted with original adjustable ‘ladder-racking’ mahogany shelves with scribed or moulded front edges . The doors fitted with original brass hinges and locks and working key , mounted with architectural turned column support uprights with block bases and turned capitals . The whole raised on a conforming breakfront-outline plinth base.
The highly-figured mahogany top with minor historic shrinkage ‘creases’ to the twin mahogany board construction at each end . Retains the original polished surface which has achieved a rich , consistent colour and patina.
A stylish and well-proportioned bookcase of restrained design , providing excellent practical storage for books and objects.
