Late C18th Dutch neo-classical design satinwood demi-lune commode.
Smart mahogany or �purple-wood� cross-banded satinwood elliptical commode of practical scale and proportions. Fitted 2 frieze drawers opening on �runners� to a right-angle , with bow-fronted twin cupboard doors below revealing a single shelved interior.
The doors each inlaid to the centre with large oval fan or sun-flower paterae of sophisticated design , retaining original green-stained surround and double �barber�s-pole� stringing. Cross-banded and stepped upright stiles, the whole with broad mahogany or �purple-wood� cross-banding and ebony stringing .
Raised on tapering shaped �spade� feet with gilt-brass terminals . The oak-lined drawers with brass �axe-head� pull handles, the verso with original oak back-board.
In excellent condition with a rich colour and patina. No splits to doors or top .
A decorative and elegantly proportioned side cabinet of practical scale with useful storage , would make an ideal drinks cabinet .
