Early C19th George IV period mahogany library or writing table.
Free-standing rectangular library or writing table fitted 2 frieze drawers. The shaped ends onto platform bases decorated with turned paterae, raised on compressed bun feet fitted with concealed brass wheel castors.
The base joined by a turned stretcher support . The superbly figured ‘plum pudding’ mahogany rectangular top with a simple thumb-moulded edge . The mahogany-lined asymmetrical drawers of the frieze flanked by classically referenced ‘ honeysuckle’ carved brackets .
The verso of corresponding form with dummy panelled drawer fronts .
A highly practical and versatile table of good proportions.
In excellent original with a rich colour and patina. Has been cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
