Magnificent early C19th William IV period Irish mahogany linen press .
Superb quality linen press or wardrobe with a flame-veneered mahogany panelled door top-section enclosing 5 original slides over a chest-of-drawers base .
Surmounted by a detachable cornice section with moulded edge and boarded top .
The upper section flanked by turned rope-twist upright columns to the shaped-top doors , the doors with central brass divider or ‘slamming’ strip . The stepped waist area with carved gadrooned detail edge .
The two short over two long drawers arrangement chest base all with cock-beaded edges , brass escutcheons and oak linings , all fitted with original exuberant cast gilt-brass rococo-design handles .
The verso with original panelled back-boards .
The whole raised on original turned and fluted carved feet .
An impressive and practical piece of furniture constructed to the highest quality. Superb colour and patina retaining
it’s original surface and finish .
In excellent original condition, requiring only minimal restoration and conservation which will be carried out in our workshops prior to delivery.
