Imposing late C19th Chippendale-revival style mahogany double-sided library desk .
Superb quality mid-Georgian period style mahogany pedestal desk in original , ‘as found’ country-house condition. Fitted with drawers to both sides all retaining their original rococo-style patinated cast-brass drop handles and back-plates , brass key escutcheons and brass locks .
The pedestals with quarter-column reeded corner uprights and carved ‘sun-flower’ paterae blocks to the top . The top with a carved stylised leaf design to the sloping or bevelled edges, with a carved waist moulding beneath the cock-beaded and mahogany-lined drawers .The base surrounds of the pedestals with corresponding carved detail.
The pedestals ends with a re-entrant corner applied beading forming panels . Each pedestal raised on shaped plinths forming raised bracket feet .
The quality grade of well-chosen mahogany has achieved an excellent patina and period-style colour and surface.
The inset leather writing surface is heavily worn and distressed and in need of replacement. This can be supplied and fitted to client’s colour choice and specifications at cost price .

Constructed in 3 sections , in the traditional manner , for ease of movement and transportation.
