Description

Late C18th /early C19th Italian bronze study of a pacing lion after Giambologna.
Well-cast miniature bronze study of a pacing male lion mounted upon a block base of Verde Mare marble .
The regal beast is depicted with a voluminous mane in a walking pose with an alert expression.
Good consistent colour and patina. The marble base of well-selected figured green Verde Mare marble .
The model is a copy of a sculpture by the Flemish Renaissance master Giovanni da Bologna , known as ‘Giambologna’.
