C19th �Grand Tour� souvenir bronze bust study of the �Venus de Milo � .
Desk-top or library bust study of the iconic Ancient Greek statue of the goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite . This bust study being a representation of the head of the full-length marble statue now exhibited at The Louvre Museum, Paris , France .
Mounted on an integral circular socle support base , the back of hollow cast form . Has a consistent dark patination and colour , with minor rubbed high-points.
Probably Italian and cast in Naples , an area with numerous foundries who produced bronzes of classical antiquity throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries for sale as high-class souvenirs to tourists completing �The Grand Tour� of the European cultural sights and sites .
