Late C19th Japanese Meiji period (1868-1912) bronze �Koro� or incense-burner .
Impressively-scaled cast bronze Japanese censer raised on tripod supports onto a circular base . The removable lid surmounted by a well-cast mythical beast guardian �lion-dog� , a �pearl� or ball clasped in it�s jaws.
The body of waisted globular-shaped form applied with angular-topped dragon�s head handles to the sides , the body with cast incised geometric details and circular detailed reserves or �mons� , with coiled dragons and lotus-leaf details.
The tops of the tripod supports cast with zoomorphic mask details and shaped feet onto the shaped hexagonal platform . The stepped circular base with cast wave or perhaps cloud motif detail .
Good dark original patina, some minor loss to patination around extreme base of foot-ring .
