Pair of interesting C19th �Retour D�Egypte� bronzed metal night-lights or pastille burners .
Classical Egyptian style lamps modelled as ancient design oil lamps with lifting lids to hold a candle night-light or pastille tablet. The twin projecting snake or asp handles curled over the ovoid bodies with pharaoh mask detail and classical cast decoration. The snake handles finely cast with good detail to the scales and heads .
Raised on a circular footed base with the stamp of the manufacturer �Patent B A & B� on the rim .
Excellent aged and verdigris patination and colour.
It is probable that these lamps were made in Birmingham , England, during the mid C19th, where production of decorative metal-ware and lighting such as these lamps was prolific , earning the city the reputation and title of �Workshop of the World� during the industrial revolution period of the nineteenth century .
