Early C19th Regency period carved giltwood 3-plate overmantel mirror.
Classical design carved giltwood frame �landscape� overmantel mirror of practical scale and neat proportions. The break-front outline moulded-edge cavetto cornice with applied spheres with a band of carved classically inspired acanthus or �stiff-leaf� decoration below .
The vertical end supports of classical architectural flat reeded pilaster design with carved Doric capitals and stepped block plinth bases terminals . The mirror plates with corresponding carved Doric capped divisions.
The original triple mirror plates in excellent condition with gently angled hand-bevelled edges .
In good , original �as found� countryhouse condition , with the original gilding and surface . The gilding atmospherically rubbed in places to show the gesso ground beneath through polishing and cleaning ,achieving a mellow colour and patination .
The spheres with some minor chips and wear , but all present .
Excellent quality carved detail and definition to the Doric capitals and acanthus border .
