Late C19th Ceylonese porcupine quill , ebony and bone-inlaid casket.
Interesting exotic colonial period casket with a fitted multi-compartmentalised lidded interior lift-out tray with ‘well’ or void beneath . The exterior banded in ebony with ‘dotted’ circular bone inlay and porcupine quill panels .
The interior of the lid with a decorative ebony panel with bone inlay . The multi-section compartments all fitted with corresponding bone-inlaid lids and fitted with brass ring handles.
Fitted brass hinged to the lid and with original working lock and key .
In good original condition with only minor losses to bone inlaid dots .
Ideal trinket or jewellery box .
