Mid C19th Chinese Export lacquer hinged and folding games board/box.
Highly decorative Chinoiserie decorated black and gilt lacquer folding games-board with re-entrant corners .The exterior decorated with a complex border of traditional design featuring figures , pavilions and landscape motifs , surrounding the central chequered grid games board centre , the alternating black and gold squares with figural decoration .
The gilt hinged centre opening to reveal a decorative interior with back-gammon markings .
Some minor rubbing to the gilded decoration commensurate with age , use and purpose. Minor historic chips to the edges.
A superior quality decorative lacquered games board in fine usable condition.
