Large scale C19th Chinese Cantonese porcelain enamel decorated vase on hardwood stand in repaired 'countryhouse' condition.
Impressive scale C19th Chinese porcelain vase beautifully hand painted and decorated in bright enamel designs , featuring exotic birds , flowers ,butterflies and landscapes.The flared neck with gilded stylised Kylin dog handles and the top of the body with gilded dragons or salamanders.
The vase has suffered extensive historic damage to one side of the body and has been repaired and fixed using the techniques of the late C19th/early C20th with drilled rivets. The scalloped shape edge of the neck also has historic chips and nicks . The gilding has extensive rubbing commensurate with age , use and purpose .
Though heavily repaired the vase is structurally sound and preserved , retaining its huge decorative value and appeal .
The vase has its original carved and pieced hardwood stand , with some historic repairs .
