High quality late C19th/ early C20th Chinese hard-stone casket.
Gilt-brass framed enamel decorated casket enclosing jadeite hard-stone panels , the hinged lid with elaborate applied raised carved hard-stone decoration. All edges of the frame with colourful raised enamel trailing floral decoration .
The lid panel with carved leaf and flower-head hard-stone decoration skilfully made and applied to the oblong jadeite panel. The hinged lid enclosing a vacant interior with a brass panel base . The whole raised on compressed circular bun feet .
The decoration to both the enamel work and hard-stone applied decoration in excellent condition with no damage or losses . The gilt brass with some aging and tarnishing.
A nice quality casket manufactured in the Far East but evoking the style of Russian caskets and objects such as those of Faberge and other contemporaries.
