Description

Fine late C18th George III period mahogany sideboard of 'demi-lune' rounded form .
Elegant Georgian period mahogany and satinwood banded and inlaid sideboard or server , of bow-fronted semi-circular design . The top with a broad cross-banded satinwood edge and superbly inlaid with segmented radiating fan of figured veneers with ovoid and crescent-shaped reserves , and further cross-banded details.
Raised upon 6 box-wood strung inlaid tapering square section legs with 'spade' feet terminals . The body fitted with a combination of graduated drawers and cupboards, all fitted with their original patinated brass circular ring handles with decorative back-plates , original brass key escutcheons and locks . The centre of the sideboard with an elegant arch . Box-wood and satinwood contrasting stringing throughout.
Oak-lined interior with fine handcut dovetail joints to the construction of the drawers and doors , the whole sideboard is in exceptional untouched original condition and supplied with its original steel 'bow-top' key .
The top with some minor marks and blemishes commensurate with age , use and purpose . Crucially retaining its original polish and finish which has achieved a wonderful colour and patination.
A smart period sideboard of impressive yet practical scale , combining functionality and supreme Georgian period elegance and style.
