Pair of early C19th Regency period papier-m�ch� hand-held ladies facial fire-screens.
Pair of cartouche shaped hand-held fire-guard /screens hand-painted with idyllic English landscape scenes with figures . The shaped panels with plain black reverse and each held by a gilded and finely turned wooden handle.
Designed to be used by fashionable ladies of the Regency period to provide protection from flushing of the face and complexion or deteriation of elaborately applied facial make-up when seated closely to open fires.
In excellent original condition with minor wear to the edges and crackulature to the painted surfaces.
