The frames with squared 'kickout ' or turret corners , sometimes referred to as 'Kit-Kat' design after the frames used to House the portraits by Vanbrugh of the esteemed members of the C18th London Whig political and academic club known as "The Kit-Kat Club" . The deep borders with 'egg and dart' carving and moulding, running Grecian key design , and flower head motif corners . The edge of the mirror plate with and flower head and ribbon motif bead . The verso with oak panels and cleated frame construction.
The gilding having a soft colour and period style subtle patination, almost indistinguishable from a mid Georgian period finish . The silvered mirror plates with some minor atmospheric 'foxing' and imperfections.
A wonderful pair of decorative mirrors in the mid Georgian period taste , offering the look and style of an important and rare pair of Kentian mirrors at a fraction of the price of period examples to create and complement a sophisticated and classical interior .
