Well-carved and reeded central column support mounted with gilded brass rosette mounts and carved gadrooned circular collar . The scrolled-over quadrupite base with elaborate brass inlaid motifs to the shoulders and brass stringing to the edges .
The interior of the swivel fold-over top with with a recently replaced crimson red felt/baize covering to the gaming surface. The swivelling top revealing a mahogany-lined inner storage compartment.
The D-shaped frieze with stepped blocks to the corners. The top banded with a wide band of scrolling cut-brass inlay and brass line stringing . Veneered in highly-figured rosewood to all sides .
In excellent condition, with minor shrinkage or 'cupping' to the ends of the fold-over top . Raised upon original 'concealed' brass castors beneath the quadrupite base.
The inlaid brass arabesques on this table reflect the the extremely fashionable taste for French boulle furniture which was avidly collected by the Prince Regent and his circle during this period . A number of London cabinet-makers produced brass inlaid furniture to cater to this taste including Louis Le Gaigneur, Thomas Parker and George Oakley. This table has all the hallmarks and quality of such a London produced item .
Rich patina and colour to the well-chosen and strikingly-figured grade of exotic rosewood .
