Late C19th 'Grand Tour' souvenir bronze bust study of the mythological Greek hero ,Ajax .
Well-cast French or Italian patinated bronze bust portrait study of the hero of Homer's 'Iliad' and in the 'Epic Cycle' poems about the Trojan wars.
The bearded head turned to the right or 'dexter' , wearing a well modelled helmet featuring eagles, panthers and centaurs in relief detail .
Has developed a pleasing golden hue to the patination.
