Pair of early C19th simulated/'faux' bamboo decorated bedroom chairs.
Pair of decorative carved beech bedroom chairs in all-over simulated bamboo style. The decoration and gilding having a worn patina ,the cane seats in good condition with no rips or tears. Probably originally gilt and green but now elegantly faded and worn showing a yellow/ochre ground.
Conceived in the early C19th when the taste for all things exotic ,and from the Orient , was highly fashionable, following in the style of the flamboyant Prince Regent and the Oriental fantasy-inspired Royal Pavilion at Brighton.
Chic pair of bedroom , bathroom or occasional chairs with a decorative and exotic flavour.
