Late C19th Italian bronze 'Grand Tour' souvenir , after the Roman , fountain figure from Pompeii.
Known as the "Amorino con Ora" , or Cherub with Goose, the original bronze fountain statue was excavated at Pompeii in 1832. It stood in a mosaic-decorated fountain niche within a property on Via Mercurio , Pompeii.
Almost certainly produced by the Chiurazzi Foundry Naples ,Italy . The winged cherub figure is depicted in mid stride clutching a goose under his left arm.
Excellent consistent dark patination and detailed casting .
