C19th Italian bronze 'Grand Tour' souvenir reduction ,after the antique, “The Capitoline Wolf”
Well-cast desk-top bronze of the Myth of the abandoned demi-god infant twins being suckled by the she-wolf .
In Roman mythology the brothers were credited with the founding of Rome in 753 BCE. The original sculpture is traditionally dated to the 5th century BCE Etruscans , but it may be later. The figured were added in the 15th century CE.
The original now exhibited in the Capitoline Museums , Rome, Italy.
Excellent attention to detail and has a good patination with greenish and gold hues present .
