Late C19th /early C20th French Empire-style siena marble 4-glass mantel clock of architectural Portico design . Superb quality Convent Siena or Brocatello Siena marble cased '4-glass' clock fitted with 8-day striking movement. (Strikes on the hour and half-hour)
The case decorated with neo-classically-inspired ormolu bronze mounts, the corners with 4 darkly-patinated reeded bronze columns with polished caps and bases. The white enamel dial with Roman numerals , quarter 'Arab' markers with high-quality 'engine-turned' centre and engraved surround .
The gilded bronze pendulum featuring a Bacchus mask .The gilded brass interior and high-polished movement in exceptional condition . The steel coiled gong having been 'blued' , the loop 'Breguet' style hands also of 'blued' steel .
The case raised on turned gilded compressed bun feet.
Opening hinged glass doors to front and rear.
A superior quality time-piece of highly decorative design and of arresting colour and scale.
