C19th cast-iron stick/umbrella stand modelled with a dog.
Two-division umbrella-stand modelled with a hound sat in p.rofile beneath an oak tree with leaves and acorns.
The base of semi-circular form with removable dished drip-tray cast with the Latin motto "CAVE CANEM" ( ie. 'Beware of the Dog').
The twin-hooped holder naturalistically-cast as tree branches . The reverse with applied Victorian 'kite' registration mark which would denote its date of manufacture , material and origin , though illegible.
The top formed as a loop handle for ease of movement.
Raised on conforming design low ornately-cast naturalistic feet.
In excellent original condition with original blacked finish , having never been over-painted to obscure the detail.
