Description

C19th mahogany William IV period metamorphic 'rise-and-fall' buffet/dumb-waiter/side-table. Interesting mechanical dumb-waiter or buffet with concealed rope-and-pulley system allowing transformation from a side-table to a 3-tiered buffet or etagere. Standing on crisply carved scroll feet with concealed brass castors beneath, the stepped platforms supporting plain bold uprights joined by a well-executed turned stretcher. The friezes with flame veneers , the top and lower platforms of solid mahogany . Good mellow ,faded patina to the moulded-edge top , with minor shrinkage crack to one end. The centre retaining its rich original polished finish having not been exposed to sun-light. Minor shrinkage crack to centre tier.
Good original condition and working order.
A useful side table with added interest ,and the capacity of a 3 tier buffet when opened.
