Description

Early C20th walnut demi-lune side table in the early Georgian period style. Faithful copy of an early C18th walnut side table constructed in the traditional period manner. Raised on shaped cabriole legs with leaf and hare-bell carving to the knee, and fitted with an oak-lined frieze drawer ,complete with pierced back-plate brass handle. Having been polished and finished to imitate the patina and wear of a period table. The cross-banded top with cross-grain moulded edge which had been made with shrinkage to simulate age.
The frieze inlaid with panels of double herringbone banding , again a feature consistent with a walnut table from the first quarter of the C18th. The half-round top with burr veneers in 'book-matched' opposing sections.
The top with some old marks and wear consistent with age and use .
Good piece of period style decoration of useful ,practical scale.
Excellent colour and patination, cleaned and waxed.
