Rare mid C19th Anglo-Indian carved ivory desk-top thermometer 'Tempietto'. Beautifully carved and pierced ivory model dome-top 'fantasy' temple with four-column supports and central thermometer pedestal, below a gallery. Intricately carved and pierced base onto velvet-covered ebony circular plinth with ivory paterae, the whole covered with original removable glass dome. The detachable ribbed ivory dome-top with 'bell-tower' pinnacle surmounted by orb and cross. Fantastic original condition with no damage or repairs.
