C19th Italian 'Grand Tour' souvenir bronze sculpture after the antique of Dionysus. Good quality and well-defined casting of the iconic image of Dionysus (Greco-Romano God of Wine and the Grape Harvest) ,known as "Narcissus" .The nude figure of the deity is depicted in contrapposto pose , with a deer-skin wine bag draped over his shoulder and grape-vines in his hair, wearing finely-detailed sandals. Mounted on an oblong 'verde antico'/green marble base .Good consistent dark patination. After the original excavated at Pompeii in 1862 ,now residing in the Museo Nazionale, Naples, Italy.
