Description

Late C19th French provincial fruit-wood framed armchair or fauteuil.
Louis XVI style salon armchair with open carved broad splat-back and 'shepherds-crook' type arms , shell carved front seat-rail and standing on cabriole legs. Probably made of chestnut, which has achieved a warm, faded colour and patina.
No breaks or repairs, has some minor evidence of historic wood-worm which has been treated.
Old serviceable upholstery, but could benefit from re-covering.
