Early C20th Chinese lacquer low 'coffee' table with decorative carved soap-stone top. Black and gold C18th design Chinese coffee or magazine table ,featuring colourful courtesan-style figures with a Tori (or Chinese gate)in a landscape, the inset panel top with carved soapstone and bone decoration. Raised on square-section shaped legs with gilded decoration to frame , the top with inset glass panel (replaced and in safety glass).Great decorative table to complement a period room setting , whilst a highly useful ,functional and stylish piece of furniture . Some minor chips to lacquer and wear commensurate with age and use, but overall a great decorative statement. The panel top in perfect condition with no losses. L 46" x D 18 " x H 18 ". China c. 1910.
