C19th pastel portrait drawing of aristocratic woman in large gilt-wood and gesso surround frame .Subtlely coloured drawing in grey and blue tones , a well-executed half-length art-work of a lady in C18th style grey silk costume with powdered wig . Drawn in pastels on paper , mounted upon canvas and behind glass (apologies for reflections). In the style of, and by a follower of, John Russell of Guildford (1745-1806).Wonderful serene depiction of this beautiful and enigmatic lady of aristocratic bearing drawn in subdued colours and showing great attention to detail. Good original condition throughout. Gilding on frame is original and has achieved a very nice aged warmth. H. 40" x W . 35" . England c 1820.
