Pair of C19th William IV period bronze and ormolu candlesticks. Modelled as herons or cranes with coronets/crowns around their necks and their claw-feet perched upon rocky/shell encrusted naturalistic patinated bronze bases. Lacquered gilt-bronze bodies with cut-glass beads and prism lustres hung from foliate sconces .The leaf-cast candle-holders 'held' by the beaks of the birds .Weighted cast-iron insert bases. After a model widely- produced by Thomas Abbott of Birmingham, sometimes stamped in cast weight to base , though this pair unmarked. All complete , good colour. H 16" Base dia. 8".England c. 1835
