Description

C19th William IV period rosewood canterbury.
Stylish classically-inspired canterbury or magazine rack , after a design by J.C.Loudon as published in his work of 1833 "Encyclopaedia of Cottage,Farm and Villa Architecture and Furniture ". John Claudius Loudon 1783-1843 ,was a Scottish-born landscape gardener and architect , and an arbiter of taste and design during this period.
Single mahogany-lined drawer with knob handle, beneath stylised carved laurel-wreath centre-piece. Classically-inspired carved X-frame laurel wreath 3-division design, standing on turned legs with original gilded brass castors.
In original condition throughout , good rich colour and patina to the beautifully figured rosewood .
No splits , damage or repairs.
