Late C19th Italian carved alabaster bust study of the Roman goddess Diana .
Well-carved study depicting the goddess with a slightly lowered head and pensive gaze , wearing her hair in a chignon with bands or filets across the head , the shoulders and breast draped with a traditional loose-fitting chiton.
The alabaster study raised on a shaped black and white marble plinth base .
Diana , or Artemis to the Greeks , was the goddess of hunting , nature , wilderness and chastity.
In excellent condition with no chips or repairs. The front with a minor historic shallow scratch or fault to the body .
