Late C19th Italian �Grand Tour� bronze souvenir reduction, after the antique, of �The Apollo Belvedere� .
Well-cast bronze reduction statue of the iconic Greek god known as the �Apollo Belvedere� or the �Pythian Apollo� . Depicted in a contrapposto pose wearing his chlamys or cloak and strapped sandals , his arm outstretched holding his bow having just slain the mythical Python guarding the entrance to the sanctuary of Delphi, a quiver of arrows across his back . Fitted with a cast bronze �modesty� fig-leaf .
Raised on a circular base , presumably previously mounted upon a revolving base with a turning handle still present .
Good consistent colour and patina , in excellent original condition with no damage or losses .
