Smart pair of late C19th / early C20th French rosewood , satinwood and kingwood marquetry tables in the C18th Louis XVI period taste .
The serpentine outline tops having brass-banded edges and inlaid with Chinoiserie design marquetry panels depicting pagodas .a bridge and a Junk , in a fantastical landscape setting. The lower brass banded platforms inlaid with marquetry designs of precious objects in the manner of the celebrated French C18th ebeniste, Charles Topino .
Of freestanding form , each fitted 3 floral marquetry inlaid drawers with ornate brass escutcheons, working locks and a single key . The sides with further panels of floral marquetry drawers, the versos veneered in opposing ‘chevroned’ panels . The shapely cabriole supports each fitted with brass sabots.
A fine and decorative pair of tables of practical scale and proportions, which could be used in multiple settings, either perhaps in a drawing room or bedroom.
Both tables in excellent original condition with no damage or repairs. Have been cleaned and waxed in our workshops ready for use .
