Pair of large-scale decorative early C20th Chinese Sancai glazed pottery ‘Foo Dogs ‘
Powerfully modelled pair of fierce-looking mythical guardian lion-dogs decorated in the 3-colour or Sancai style of the early Tang Dynasty raised on integral rectangular plinth bases .
In Chinese culture the dogs symbolise protection, wealth and good fortune , often placed at entrances to ward off evil spirits and negative energy.
Highly decorative pair of glazed pottery Foo Dogs which could be utilised in either an interior or exterior scheme to add an exotic Oriental element .
