The top of strikingly-figured rare ‘breche violette’ marble having a corresponding serpentine outline together with a moulded edge . This exceptional high quality marble top being 40 mm thick and perhaps originally from an earlier C18th table . The gilded table frame having been constructed in oak .
In excellent original condition with no breaks or repairs. The gilded surface having achieved a pleasing mellow colour and patina .
A highly decorative console table of practical scale and proportions. This elegant yet robust table is designed to be fixed in position to a wall in order to provide stability, especially when considering the need to support the heavy thick marble slab top.
