Early C19th late George III period 48” diameter circular mahogany breakfast or centre table with single-piece top.
Raised on an elegant turned central column with 3 shaped reeded supports fitted original gilt-brass leaf-cast castors and wheels . The circular top with a reeded edge , the verso fitted with a substantial gilt-brass double tilting-action handle , the block fitted with twin gilt-brass retainers to secure the top in place .
Remarkable single-piece 48” diameter , 150” circumference mahogany top which would comfortably seat 6 diners .
A George III period table of practical scale and proportions being of classic restrained design , in excellent original condition with only minor dents and marks to the top commensurate with age, use and purpose. Has achieved a rich colour and patina to the original polished surface.
The base with no breaks, damage or repairs.
Has been sympathetically cleaned and waxed in our workshops ,ready for use.
