Description

Elegant early C19th small-scale mahogany 4 door 2-part glazed cabinet having brass line inlay and brass mouldings detail , together with a ‘rosso levanto’ marble top .
The smaller glazed two-door upper section with gilded wire grilles with glass behind, enclosing a single shelf . The door frames with brass line inlay and brass mouldings , having brass flush-fitting bolts, a central moulded mahogany strip, fitted with a brass escutcheon and a working brass lock and steel key . The moulded architectural classical-style pediment cornice surmounted with a recessed removable panel of highly figured ‘rosso levanto’ marble.
The base section fitted 2 glazed doors with pleated silk panels behind, the door frames with corresponding brass line inlay and brass moulded edging . Having 2 brass line inlaid simulated ‘drawer’ fronts above ,flush-fitting brass bolts, each fitted with an elaborately cast brass ‘swans-neck’ handle. The divide fitted with a corresponding moulded mahogany strip and fitted with decorative brass escutcheon with a brass lock and working key . The doors enclosing a single shelved interior.
The whole raised on 4 stepped tapering square-section feet with corresponding applied brass moulding detail. The verso with oak back-boards .
A smart quality cabinet of restrained design and practical small scale and proportions, an ideal drinks or side cabinet with useful storage. Supplied with 2 working keys .
In excellent original condition with a rich consistent colour and patina to the mahogany, the brass having achieved a mellow aged patina and surface .
